Cell is the basic unit of life , it performs important functions in the body . cells make new cells by division and replace old dead cells . But in case of cancer cells divide abnormally and start growing uncontrollably which may spread to side by tissue , blood or lymph . These cells when collectively form a mass then called as tumor.
Tumor is of two type
- Benign tumor – it is type of abnormal cell growth which is confined to one place only , it will not spread to other body parts.
- Malignant tumor – it is the type of abnormal cell growth which will spread to other part of body.

Four main categories according to the site where it begins
- Carcinomas – it is the type of cancer that begins in the skin or internal organ surface tissue . for example, breast cancer , prostate cancer ,lung cancer , colon cancer , ovarian cancer etc,.
- Sarcomas – it is the type of cancer that begins in the supporting tissues like bones , tendons , fat , cartilage , blood vessels and nerves.
- Lymphoma – it is the type of cancer begins in lymphatic system .example , Hodgkin lymphoma .
- Leukaemia – it is the cancer of blood cells.

It is correlated to arbuda in ayurveda , arbuda means little mountain like swelling which has occurred due to imbalance of three doshas that is vata , pitta and kapha .
Arbuda is classified on the basis of doshas that is vattaj , pittaj,and kapha and on the basis of dhatus that is raktaj (blood) ,mansaj (muscle) ,medaj (fat) and asthija(bones) etc,.
On the basis of progressions , shotha(inflammation and swelling),arbuda(tumor),karkat(cancer),granthi(galandular swelling),.
CAUSES OF KARKAT ARBUDA
- Wrong food habits
- Mandagni that is low digestive power
- Smoking
- Eating spicy ,
- salty food in excess
Due to wrong food habits agni gets manda which leads to accumulation of toxins in the body which disturbs dhatus also that is rakta , mansa etc,. And this condition then leads to formation of karkat arbuda in body.
