To be mother or get pregnant is considered a blessings and a source of great joy. It arouses tender feeling in mother. Yoga enables future mother to enjoy perfect all round health during pregnancy as well as to ensure that labour and delivery take place in best possible conditions.

Yoga at the time of conceptions

Firstly parents who are aware of their responsibilities and who wish to produce a child possessing fine physical and moral virtues should avoid intercourse when they are tired, downcast or anxious for their physical or mental state can affect the embryo from the moment it is conceived. Women who are at the moment of conception ,breathed through her right nostril produced as son while who breathed her left nostril gave birth to a daughter .As right nostril breathing shows dominance of Pingla nadi and  left nostril shows dominance of Ida nadi which is feminine in nature.

      Precautions

The mother should avoid the food which is heavy or difficult to digest. During night if she experiences cramps in the calves or toes she should massage the affected area and walk a few steps. The future mother should begin paying special attention to Yoga which helps to minimize pains in the spinal column and Lumber region, fight against constipation and improve the circulation.

    Important Asanas

All Asans which are done in supine positionand not exerting pressure over lower abdomen can be practiced safely .Asans likeBhadraasanas, Utkataasana, Tadasana , Ardh Halaasana, Ushtra Asanas  ,spinal twist  asanas,Ardh kati charka aasana , Trikona Asana ,Modified Gomukh Asana, Shavasan,(complete relaxation process) ,All these aasans provide suppleness to the legs and pelvic region. Straighten the spinal column and stimulate the blood circulation, relieve constipation and avoid of excess of putting weight.

    Fourth & Fifth Month

By the fourth month, body has usually become accustomed to the hormonal change and future mother’s psychic balance has been reestablished. During fifth month baby begins to hear external voices for example its parent’s voice. At this stage baby react when their surroundings are too quite. That’s why whatever mother thinks and whatever she do, has direct effect  on baby’s mind and body development. So mother should try to possess positive emotions and high moral values every time. She should try to overcome emotional stress with the help of these yogic relaxations, breathing pattern and meditation. Some basic methods are:

*shavaasna(complete relaxtion like a dead body)

    *Auto Suggestion

    *Anuloma Viloma(Alternate breathing)

    *Meditation

Anuloma Viloma or Alternate nostril breathing is one of the best exercises for purifying the nervous system and bringing calm to the mind. It helps in treating Anxiety and Depression. All these pranayam exercises regulates the secretions of hormones, revitalizing the nervous system ,oxygenate the body and ensure the correct functioning of the entire body .They not only calm the mind but also prevent  physical damage caused by these.

      sixth & seventh month

During the sixth month, baby’s muscle grow at a faster rate than earlier, so baby moves more and turn around. Mother’s legs feel heavier. So she should practice Yogic relaxation by raising them in precise manner to avoid blocking the circulation of blood.

      Eighth & Ninth month

During eight month mother’s heart beat is faster. She breathes more rapidly owing to an increased demand for Oxygen supply. Mother feels suppleness and experience pain in groin and pubic region. Breathing becomes irregular as constantly growing uterus touches the diaphragm. So breathing exercises can be helpful to relieve the problem .This can be divided into three different levels:

    Abdominal

    Middle chest

    Upper Chest

These three when combined together constitute complete yogic breathing

A pregnant woman who learns complete yogic breathing she knows how to control over breath. She will have no difficulty in following the advice concerning breathing which is given to her at the moment of child birth.

So, we see Yogasanas and Pranayams exert a positive effect on physical, psychological and biochemical aspects of pregnant woman. As well as lowering down the emergence of caesarean section. Daily scheduled yoga package is must for every future mother; who wants a child possessing fine physical, mental and mortal values.

All these Asanas and Pranayams techniques should be done under the guidance of expert Yoga instructor only.
